“A people invited to follow…” is the theme of the Annual Methodist Church in Ireland Conference, 12 – 16 June 2013. The Conference Planning Group, appointed by the General Committee, has prepared Bible Notes as a resource we may find useful in our devotions - ‘A People Invited to Follow’ Bible Notes.
Sydenham’s Ibiza 24-7 team are having a fundraising table quiz on Saturday 1 June in the Ferguson Hall. Everyone welcome. Minimum donation of £5 per person.
The book club is meeting again on 10 June 2013 and this time we are reading ‘Simply Jesus - who he was, what he did, why it matters’ by NT Wright.
East Belfast Mission is holding a Welfare Benefits Advice Clinic each Monday, in the Taylor Room, from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm to give advice and information on benefits. The clinic is open to anyone from the local community.
On Saturday evening 16 March 2013 a group of 48 people from our church visited the Skainos complex on the Newtownards Road. Neil Morris gave a guided tour and explanation of the journey taken by the East Belfast Mission that has resulted in the wonderful modern facilities for the church and local community. The evening finished with a meal in the re:fresh cafe. Visit the Skainos website to see more.
On the 17 February we hosted the Belfast District World Church Service.

The Book Club meets next on Monday 11 March 2013 at 8.00 pm. The book to read is ‘Abiding: The Archbishop of Canterbury’s Lent Book 2013′ by Ben Quash. Anyone is welcome to join in reading the book beforehand and coming along on the night ready to discuss the book.
On Sunday 20 January 2013 the officers and elected representatives of the Church Council were recognised for their service to the church as they serve on the Council for 2013.
